“But how do you thank someone who has taken you from crayons to perfume?” (Don Black’s To Sir with Love)

Students from yesteryear gather to honor him.
I see the pride well and spill.
Not arrogance or superiority, but a grounded wonder
As he processes the ripples initiated
By his long-passed presence in their lives.

THAT BOY

yogi bear

With good looks and muscles he’s brimmin’.

It shows when he’s out there a’swimmin’.

He’s staring at Susie

(that life-guarding floozy!)

He thinks he is God’s gift to women.

And not that I’d notice, but hey –

He’s flirting with Rosie and Faye,

Katrina, Deb … Gee,

Now he’s flirting with ME?

Now I’m thinkin’ this place is okay!

 Ice melts away

Gray sheds to gray

Man feeling tinned

Casts worth to wind
