GIFT OF FAITH

My faith is not unshakable, nor grand.
But God is not reduced by human flaws.
For when my need is great and faith is dim,
His unrestricted love renews my hope.

While apprehension plots to halt my steps,
His ever-present guidance leads me on.
See, any strength you see in me is His.
Without His faith to feed on, I am numb.

Before I even recognized my need,
He sacrificed His Son to pay my debt.
It’s not my faith that led me to my Lord,
But Jesus’ love that led me to my faith.

It’s not my faith that led me to my Lord,
But Jesus’ love that led me to my faith.

Trust in Jehovah, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on his faithfulness. ~ Psalm 37:3

BLOODY GOOD POETRY

Words strung
Flung prettily
Wittily, woefully
Notably touching
Clutching passion
Fashioning splendor
Rendering reader
Bleeder

may Your bidding reign supreme

LITTLE LAMB

Not all little lambs breathe earth’s air,
finger blanket’s silk,
rock-a-bye with Grandma,
hold Daddy’s hand,
sleep with a sibling,
laugh with their poppa,
or lay against Momma’s breast.
They never know sadness or hunger,
failure or pain,
the loss of a loved one,
or fear of the dark.
Some breathe Heaven’s sweet scent, and nap
in the arms of the Lamb of God

I can’t say I understand the hows and whys of a new and deeply wanted heart that was suddenly halted late Christmas night, 2012.  But this I know — God knows the baby’s name, and its life is in His hands.

Someday we’ll hold you, precious little grandbaby.  Your mommy and daddy miss you every day.

UPDATE:  Today (five years later), this little lamb was given a gift.  His momma wanted him cremated and placed in an urn to keep forever.  However, since he was too young to be considered a “person” and given a certificate of death, there seemed to be nothing that could be done.  But there are kind, caring people in the world.  The director of an area funeral home not only found a way to do it, but they will do a service and provide an urn completely free of cost.

Today, this little lamb was given a name:  Noah Ezekial.  Though he was too young to be sure of the sex, his momma chose this name for its meaning:
Comfort and Rest, and God Strengthens.

My heart is full.

I THIRST

For this I’ve learned – we’re not immune
To dampened dreams beneath the moon
Where love lies fallow, barren, spent;
Where thirsting hearts are spurned and rent.

My Jesus, quench my burning need
And to your living water, lead
Where charred remains of love are nursed;
Where hearts will thrive and never thirst.

John 4:14 “… but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst.”

DELIVERED (Sonnet to Jesus, Our Redeemer)

I prayed for one I love for countless years,
For healing of her heart, her mind, her soul.
My faith was often blinded by my tears,
Just longing for my loved one to be whole.

A Savior’s unremitting hunt pursued.
In sacrificial, unrestricted love,
Each moment and heart-rending  instance used
To draw her broken spirit’s eyes above.

The enemy at work may mystify,
But his sick plot is frail and deeply flawed.
His seeming grip on us is just a lie –
He’s simply powerless against our God.

Her life in Jesus wondrously revealed,
Now with His Holy Spirit, she is sealed!

And What of Joy?

This world may have some issues I can’t solve –
Some great enough to trigger pain or fear;
Some threatening to make my life revolve
‘round stresses, whether certain or unclear.

This fallen world may never right its wrongs,
May never be at peace, nor ever learn
The value of a love that seeks and longs
To emanate affection and concern.

Though incidents endeavor to destroy,
To pierce our heart’s contentment as a knife,
My Jesus, how I thank You that my joy
Does not depend on happiness in life!

Unending joy of sinner-been-set-free,
Your grace and mercy are enough for me.

SILLY LITTLE LOVE POEM (for my Keith)

10489762_10152424478083600_3530292144173284663_n

Did you notice
That I noticed
You were noticing me too?

Did your eye
Catch my eye
When I eyed those eyes of blue?

Were you touched
When we touched
Accidentally (if that’s true)?

Did you see
That I sighed
As I saw your soul shine through?

Did you sense
The immense
Magnetism, me to you?

Do you know
You’re loved so,
And I’m glad I said “I do.”
